Manipulator List Assist for Engine Block

The client needed an ergonomic industrial lift assist solution to keep the operator safe while handling an engine block in an assembly line.

GCI designed a manipulator arm and end effector with custom forks to engage the engine block. The forks feature interchange tools to accommodate product variations. A powerful pneumatic cylinder provides up to 900 lbs of lift with 10′ of reach and 60″ of vertical travel. The operator controls the lift action with a thumb lever that allows for various speeds.
