Hook-Mounted Manipulator for Cam Shafts

The client needed a safe, ergonomic way to handle cam shafts during their manufacturing process.

GCI designed a hook mounted manipulator with an integrated pendant to control the hoist. The system uses two outside diameter grippers to securely capture the cam shaft during handling. To help confirm the part is properly gripped, two part presence sensors trigger visual indicators for the operator. A load sensor helps prevent unintentional release by confirming the part has been set down before release is allowed. For added safety, the operator must press both the Safety button and the No Part button to release the cam shaft.
