The client was needing an ergonomic solution for the operator to safely pick, rotate, and place a sub-assembly for a seeding implement.
GCI engineered a manipulator arm with a custom end effector to safely and reliably handle this sub-assembly. The end effector contains two probes to help line up the part so the gripper can properly engage. The intuitive controls make it simple to control the vertical travel of the arm, grip the part and initiate the power rotation. Both the safety and the “no part” levers need to be activated to release the part. The 2-lever requirement acts as a redundancy to reduce the chance of dropping the part.
