Door Handling Manipulator Arm

The client needed a safer way to handle both left and right versions of a part while giving operators better control in areas with limited visibility.

GCI designed a custom manipulator with a cradle gripper that accommodates both part versions. Instead of automatically closing the gripper with one button press, the operator controls its movement by holding the grip or release button. Once sensors on both sides detect the part, the gripper completes its gripping action automatically and a green indicator provides visual confirmation.

• Controlled grip and release for precise positioning and reduced pinch point risks.
• Dual part presence sensors that trigger automatic gripping and visual confirmation.
• 90 degree pitch and 45 degree roll in either direction to accommodate different part orientations during pickup and placement.
• Universal cradle gripper designed to handle both left and right part versions without changing tooling.
