The client was seeking a torque reaction solution to help with operator ergonomics and quality assurance for the transmission cover assembly process.
GCI designed an intelligent torque reaction arm to help assist the operator with the assembly process. The proprietary AdaptiCS® smart arm software tracks the tooltip position and helps ensure the proper torques are applied to the correct fastener.
The Locate feature allows the operator use 2-3 bolts to determine the position of the assembly in work station space. This means an assembly doesn’t have to be in the same position every time for Adaptics® to work, providing more flexibility to the client.
To help with ergonomics, the load balancing system zeros out the arm and tool weight. This makes it quick and easy for the operator to move the torque tool into place.
