Paper Roll Handling Manipulator

The client needed a safe and ergonomic way to handle large paper rolls as part of a converting process.

GCI designed a manipulator with a custom outside diameter gripper to securely handle the rolls. A powered pitch function allows the operator to manipulate each roll from a horizontal position to vertical for the next step in the process.

The operator controls are offset to maintain a clear line of sight while positioning the roll. A linear balance handle also allows the controls to move with the operator, helping keep them within a comfortable ergonomic range throughout the operation.
