Overhead-Mounted Tire Manipulator with Powered Tilt

The client needed a safe and ergonomic industrial lift assist solution to help the operator to install tires during the vehicle assembly process.

GCI designed an overhead-mounted manipulator with a custom end effector and powered tilt to safely pick and place tires up to 75 lbs. To further enhance safety, a two-handed lever control reduces the chances of inadvertently dropping the tire. To improve ergonomics, the linear balance handle helps keep the controls at the ideal waste height for the operator.
