Industrial Manipulator for Multiple Tank Track Parts

The client was seeking an ergonomic solution to safely pick up and install two critical parts during a tank track assembly process.

GCI engineered an industrial manipulator arm with a creative custom end effector that works for both the idler wheel and arm assembly. By combining the solutions for both parts into one system, GCI was able to save the client money and minimize the required floor space.

In regard to ergonomics and safety, the manipulator arm helps operators effortlessly pick up and rotate these parts during assembly. Intuitive levers give the operator control over the lift speed, parking brake, and part engagement. To ensure the parts are not dropped during operation, the operator must press both the “No Part” and “Safety” levers at the same time.
