Adjustable OD Gripper for Crankshafts

The client needed a material handling solution to assist the operator when heavy crankshafts needed to be moved to a workstation.

GCI designed a custom end effector on a manipulator arm with an adjustable OD gripper to accommodate multiple part sizes. A powered tilt and pneumatic lift cylinder allow the operator to move the heavy parts ergonomically. To reduce the chances of dropping a part, a two-handed safety lever is included on the operator handles.
