The client was seeking an ergonomic solution to move a large artillery casing through an industrial assembly process.
GCI engineered a manipulator arm with a custom end effector to help improve the safety of the process. The intuitive controls and manual roll feature help the operator to position the part. A two-handed safety lever adds redundancy to the release action to prevent the part from being accidentally dropped as it moves from a wash station back to the assembly line.
The ergonomics of the process are further improved with a linear balance handle that keeps the controls at an ideal height as the part moves up and down.
