Massive Mobile Stacker Manipulator for Custom Tooling

The client needed a mobile lift assist solution that could safely handle heavy payloads while accommodating custom tooling they had developed in-house.

GCI designed a stacker-style manipulator with a portable base that provides both stability and flexibility. The base includes pockets for easy relocation by forklift and leveling feet to quickly rebalance the system in its new position. The manipulator arm itself features three rotation joints, each equipped with parking brakes, along with two mounting points designed to accept the client’s tooling. Vertical movement is powered by an electric VFD hoist with two operating speeds—a fast speed for travel and a slow speed for precise final positioning—controlled by a handheld pendant. With 10 feet of vertical travel and 12 feet of reach, the system is capable of covering a large envelope, while its mobile design ensures it can be used across multiple work areas.

The result is a safe, ergonomic, and adaptable solution that fully integrates with the client’s handling processes.
