End-of-Hook Track Lift Assist with Custom Gripper

The client needed a pick-and-place solution for installing a track on a construction vehicle. The heavy awkward track made the manual installation process cumbersome and unsafe.

GCI designed an end-of-hook lift assist machine with a custom gripper to help hold the track in the correct shape while improving the operator ergonomics. Once engaged, a pneumatic cylinder pitches the track 90 degrees to prepare the part for installation. The operator can then use the center-of-gravity controls to shift the weight from side to side to make the final alignment with the idler and drive wheels.
