Manipulator Lift Assist for an Evaporator Coil

The client needed an ergonomic material handling solution to pick and place a large evaporator coil. The machine needed to provide a safe experience for the operator while not damaging the sensitive fins on the part.

GCI designed a custom end effector with forks and a cradle gripper to engage the evaporator coil at a point where it wouldn’t damage the part. Adjustable handles allow the operator to move the part safely. When the part is placed, a two-handed safety lever ensures the operator doesn’t accidentally disengage the part.
