Custom Manipulator Gripper for AC Coil

The assembly of these large and heavy air conditioning parts required a material handling solution to provide an ergonomic experience for the operator. The tool also needed to account for protecting the sensitive coils on the part during operation.

The engineers at GCI designed a custom gripper specifically for this part to ensure proper handling. The end-of-hook mounted tool included a slack sensor to protect against damaging the part. An adjustable center-of-gravity mount and detachable control handle provided the operator with the ability to adapt to changes in operation.
